Solving printer problems

Stop and think.  What has been done since printing was last known to be running well?

Blank paper costs far less than printed forms.  You can get the print going on plain paper, and then use the forms. Folding the paper vertically or horizontally allows you to check the alignment.

This section is here to help you in troubleshooting problems that can be quite sticky.  You will see that it contains suggestions to try.  Printing usually works quite well.  The easy problems have been solved.  That leaves the less likely situations, and makes accurate guessing nearly impossible.

The printer manual will be needed for several of the steps recommended.

Some of the most common printing problems will be discussed in the following four categories:

Nothing prints

Garbage prints

Slow printing

Printing in wrong place or cut off
